Glacier Peak. Part One: The Summit<\/a><\/p>\n

The morning of our return home greeted us with fog. No \u2014 FOG.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Our marmot meadow.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

While we were making breakfast and admiring Glacier Peak,<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

the fog crept right up to us,<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

and started crawling past us toward the summit.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We hurried to get out of there,<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

and emerged into something even more beautiful. The fog had filled and overflowed the neighboring valley, and was beginning to spill into the one closest to us.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It poured over the edge and came flowing toward us like a river.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Behind us, the sun was already shining.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

And we were approaching the foggy ocean.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

And then we dove into it.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A magnificent mountain. It’s just a shame the approaches are so long \u2014 you can’t really do this one as a regular weekend trip.<\/p>\n
