Shi-shi beach, Olympic National Park, July 2012

The beaches of Olympic Park is one of the beautiful and mystic place in the world. I already visited most of them, and this was a time for most western beach, Shi-shi. The weather was not perfect, bur at least it was not heavy rainy that was good. The Shi-shi belongs to national park, but the trail to the beach goes though private Indian lands that makes camping a little complicated. The park has official parking near the trail-head, but it is day-use only. For camping you need to buy permit in the village store. Of course, you will get to know about it only on the parking, so you should drive back to the village. You can park your car on the private parking (actually they are the lawns near the local’s houses) for about 10 backs.
The trail to the beach is about 2 miles, very flat and very-very dirty. It is really knee-deep mud.
The beach is sandy, rocky and foggy.

The best time is low tides.

Sea-life is affluent.

Anemones

Anemones on the left, sea stars on the right.

Sand shrimp

And kelp waves.

Beautiful place.
