Glacier Peak. Part Two: The Foggy One

Glacier Peak. Part One: The Summit

The morning of our return home greeted us with fog. No — FOG.

Our marmot meadow.

While we were making breakfast and admiring Glacier Peak,

the fog crept right up to us,

and started crawling past us toward the summit.

We hurried to get out of there,

and emerged into something even more beautiful. The fog had filled and overflowed the neighboring valley, and was beginning to spill into the one closest to us.

It poured over the edge and came flowing toward us like a river.

Behind us, the sun was already shining.

And we were approaching the foggy ocean.

And then we dove into it.

A magnificent mountain. It’s just a shame the approaches are so long — you can’t really do this one as a regular weekend trip.
