Lavender festival

Every third weekend of July there is a Lavender Festival in the little town of Sequim, WA. Sequim is the lavender capital of Washington state – a number of lavender farms grow the purple flower all around the town. Every year, at the peak of lavender blooming, the town organizes a festival and a market, where local craftsmen sell their goods and visitors in turn can buy everything that they don’t really need and then drive through every farm to admire the flowers before they would be cut. Farms, however, can be visited any time of the year (of course, better to choose a time when the lavender is blooming), so the market is the main festival point. That part of mine which is responsible for finances, doesn’t like local markets, so we just took ourselves to several farms to make photos of flowers.

Bee on the flower, bees like lavender very much.

I never knew that there are so many different kinds of lavender, each with its own color and flower size.

A flower closer.

Lavender rows

Butterflies also appreciate lavender.

And a final bouquet.
