Manning Provincial Park to my own surprise I have never visited until middle of this January. I had hear about this park a lot of positive information, drove though it several times, planned to visit it, but never did. This place is famous its alpine meadows, wild life and beautiful autumn, and I planned to initiate our relationship in the spring (that really means July in our mountains) or fall. But in January our friends invited us to spend couple day in the park and we could not resist. After late arriving from Vancouver we spent the rest of the first day hiking around the lakes.
Well, what can I say? It is a lot of snow. But altitude of the lakes is about 1500 meters, so it is not surprise.
It was a lot of wet snow several days before our arriving and all trees were completely buried under it.
And the frost that followed the snow provided the plenty of huge snow crystals.
The bridge via the narrow part of the lake.
Diving is prohibited. Well, at least it is sound logical now.
Forget about diving, lets go to the forest.
Spruces
The spring is also covered by crystals.
On the next day the sun was provided and we walked up to the Windy Joe, the little mountain that decades ago was used to looking for the fires in the park.
First along the river
After through the spruces to the top.
On the top there is a former fire tower with nice frosty windows.
On the top
It was nice hike, the park definitely wort more attention.
