Elfin Lakes

It was March 2011. Unexpectedly sun was turned on on weekend and we took our snowshoes and went to Elfin Lake that is in the Garibaldi Park. Ofiticl trail description. The trail is 22 kilometers return and elevation gain is 620 meters.
There is a lot of snow, I guess, at least 5 meters, but you can feel spring even in the morning, when it is still cold. Just right near the trail the grouses sang.

First five kilometers hiked up via spruce forest.

There is no hiker rout in BC without grey jays looking for food from your pocket.

They are not beg, they insist and fight with each other for promised people.

Red Heather Shelter. 5 kilometers from parking lot.

From the cabin to the Parl Ridge.

Sky Pilot Mt.

Garibaldi mountain itself.

Mount Mamquam.

On the right also mount Mamquam, on the left – Pyramid Mountain.

Sunny day, spring, fresh snow, altitude 1500 m, nobody though about sunscreen…can you image our faces next day? And it is happened every spring…

It took about 7 hours. Nice, pleasant day hike. I really recommend it. It also could be beautiful in spring (beginning of July would be spring time here) and autumn.
