Enchantment Lakes – grey granites, clear water and yellow larches

Every hiker in Washington state knows Enchantment Lakes. I got this info only last fall and immediately decided to visit this place. The problem with Enchantment Lakes is their popularity. It is long hike, about 40 km both ways and 2100 meters of altitude gain, so better to spend night on the lakes. But you should get permit by lottery for this. Good thing that is after October 15 you don’t need permit.
We decided to do this hike on the closest weekend after October 15, but finally we got only Sunday and decided to do it in one day.

Sunday early morning we started our hike. First, to Nada Lake, and without stop to Snow Lake.
It was very low water in Snow Lake.

From Snow Lake very step ascent to first of Enchantment Lakes, Vivien Lake.
View from edge of Vivien Lake:

And back from the same point:

Vertical granite banks and larches.

From lake to lake by granite fields among yellow larches.

Lakes flow into other lake by spring and waterfall on clear granites.

Magnificent place! Definitely worth more visits.
